VENUS AND ADONIS

Rotating painted and polished aluminum, atop stainless steel

10ft. h x 4ft.9in. w x 4ft.6in. d 2019

My sculpture is a free-standing expression of natural forces with three kinds of movement at six points. The playful motion depends upon the will of the wind and the position of a sub arc which acts as the navigator. My art takes on a life of its own due to “sculpting the wind.” The sculpture’s ability to respond randomly to the elements is a statement of human desire to attain the same freedom.

Venus and Adonis was part of the opening of the Clifton Sculpture Park.

Mike Bertelli the new director of the sculpture park wanted to place my sculpture in front of Clifton City Hall. Honored by the location, having grown up in Clifton, I offered “To B” as a sculpture for the prominent site.

Venus and Adonis has been restored and repainted, and is an available work.
